I am a hydrogeologist with 20+ years experience and expertise in groundwater resources assessment and management in industry (consultancy: 2003-2009) and in academia (since 2009). I obtained an MSc in hydrogeology in 2003 and a PhD in hydrogeophysics in 2009. Past and present consultancy, research and teaching experience and activities relate to the understanding and sustainable management of groundwater resources in the context of a changing climate, increasing water demand, and energy transition with some particular focus on low-income developing countries that are increasingly reliant on groundwater resources. Over the last decade, my research has evolved from a primary focus on the development of geophysical approaches to improve groundwater assessment and modelling, to broader groundwater process understanding and prediction associated with a diverse range of societally-critical water sustainability and security challenges, with increasing inputs of social sciences in groundwater management, and with increasing international collaborations with scientists from Europe, the Mediterranean, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
