Biography
I am currently a PhD Researcher at UHI ERI, Thurso. I mainly work with identifying how land use in peatland dominated catchments of the Scottish Highlands impacts water quality and freshwater ecology. I have been working with how different peatland restoration techniques may alter stream biogeochemistry and to find if these could have negative impacts to the point of impacting wildlife such as macroinvertebrates and Atlantic salmon. I am well versed in the use of water quality analysis (nutrients, metals, sediments, and hydrology), ecological monitoring (primarily macroinvertebrates sampling and ID, as well as monitoring freshwater fish populations), QGIS and Rstudio.
