Centre of Expertise for Waters (CREW)
Biography
I am a project manager at the Centre of Expertise for Waters (CREW) which is one of four existing virtual Centres of Expertise funded by Scottish Government to deliver evidence-based research and expert knowledge to meet policy needs and benefit Scotland and beyond. As a CREW Project Manager, I work closely with policy makers, regulators, industry representatives and researchers from Scottish Higher Education and Research Institutes to address policy needs and maximise benefits of the research to society. Within my role I am the knowledge broker for Hydrological Extremes, Coasts and Risk Management projects.
I previously worked at NHS Orkney in the public health team was project lead for blue/greenspace project which aimed to promote health and wellbeing through interaction with the environment. The role also focused on the development of local health improvement policy, strategy and projects. Topics included: blue and green space, environmental sustainability and health and anchor institutions
I am currently undertaking a part-time Masters in the Environment and Public Health at the University of Manchester. This course will develop my understanding of the interconnections between both topics with modules including: climate change and health, blue and green space, and the antibiotics crisis- a one health approach.
