Biography
I’m a career Meteorologist (1981 - 2024), having recently retired. Some of my operational Meteorological experience includes:
Aviation (Civil & Military). 20+ years.
Industrial, Infrastructure & Energy. 20+ years.
Tropical, Radar & Severe Storms. 20+ years.
Media & Public Safety. 20+ years.
Marine & Shipping (including offshore deployments). 15+ years.
Space Weather (Geomagnetic storms). 5 years.
Hydro-Meteorology. 3 years.
As a career scientist, I thrive on continual learning, having embraced a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to problem solving (Earth Systems Science). I’m a life-long student of Hydro-Meteorology, Ecology, Climate Change, Sustainability and Permaculture.
I volunteer as an advisor with the “Scottish Flood Forum” (www.scottishfloodforum.org), using my experience to assist their work with Community Resilience Groups (in partnership with the UK Met Office and SEPA).
